MA Abstract : The present thesis attempts to present the contribution of the American College "Anatolia" to the education of refugees from the Minor Asia destruction. Following the events of 1922, the school was transferred from Merzifoun to Thessaloniki bringing new elements in the Greek education through the application of American educational principles and their coalescence with Greek reality. The thesis, therefore, explores the political, economic, and educational conditions in Greece, the stance of the Greek governments and politicians vis-a-vis American schools, and the stance of the Americans. The history of the school, the socio-economic stratification of students, its operation and the school curriculum close the list of the issues discussed in the present thesis. gre Θεσσαλονίκη 1997
