Abstract:MA Abstract : The present thesis studies the concept of "eudaimonia", a landmark concept in Aristotle's thought. The author follows the evolution of Aristotelian thought, as it develops from the first to the tenth book of Nicomachean Ethics. First, there is an investigation of the more general cognitive-theoretical context of Aristotle's ethical philosophy, in order to find out where "eudaimonia" belongs. Moreover, the philosopher distinguishes "eudaimonia" into intellectual and ethical, and then goes on to examine how and if "eudaimonia" is associated with friendship and justice. In the tenth book his views are clarified in that "eudaimonia" is an action consistent with the most divine element of man, the intellect.
